Marta Powers owns and operates MartaPOW LLC in Richmond, a custom workroom for upholstery and soft furnishings. Marta has united her loves and skills of sewing and handcraft with those of project and business management.  Her passion is working with designers to see their designs come to life, offering insight and education on the wide range of options that a great craftsperson can offer.  Believing strongly that bringing a craftsperson into the design process early can help designers meet goals for budget, schedule and design realisation, she is a passionate advocate for collaboration and education.

Marta has worked in the design industry since 2007 for Richmond firms Baskervill and, previously, BAM Architects in the support roles of project accountant, project coordinator and office manager.  A lifelong seamstress and craftsperson, Marta is a member of the National Upholstery Association, and has expanded her workroom to include both modern and traditional upholstery methods, working directly with designers and others in the trade.
